December inspiration by Vera Shelemekh

Ho ho ho, Vera Shelemekh is knocking at the door)
Merry Christmas to all Blue Fern Studios fans all over the world!

Let me share some sparkling Christmas layouts and one extra off the page project which I'm sure you will enjoy.
First I'll share a very festive layout made with the brand new Remnants collection. I've used Remnants - Beaumont dark side as background and some Remnants printed chipboards in decor.

I've applied a huge variety of wonderful Blue Fern Studios chipboards: Graduated Circles,
hat from Cozy Christmas set, Holiday Treats, Holly Sprigs, Winter flakes and the title. The gingerbrad man is covered with Antique gold Embossing powder.
The background is shining with Fire engine glitter, Flaming and Fir tree seedlings and

Holly springs are covered with Avocado embossing powder and the circle frame with Glistening sand.

I have two more layouts with both Vintage Christmas collections. These are gifts for my good Instagram followers.
This one is very tender and full of sweet romance with Vintage Christmas - Auld Lang Syne as background. And the frame is taken from the new Vintage Christmas printed chipboards set.
I added Snow Medley and covered it with fools gold glitter. Therelayout is embelished with bits of fussy cut flowers from different collections.

The black and white photo demands some contrast black elements, so I added some stamping with Holiday Wreath. And the title Heartland hoho chipboard perfectly fits the story.

The photo is framed into Sweet Home Vignette chipboard covered with Antique gold embossing powder.

I also added festive Flaming and Mustard seedlings and covered the gesso pattern with Fire Engine glitter

Hello December

Hello Blue Fern Fans.  I case you haven't noticed, December is not far away!  We are excited to share with you today another project from Dorota Kopec, our November Fan of the Month.  For this beautiful layout, Dorota has chosen the Wonderland paper from our Vintage Christmas collection as the background.  The more I look at it, the more I see.  This layout is the definition of eclectic - not following one system, but selecting and using what are considered the best elements of all systems.

The chipboard pieces used are the Stars & Berries Frame which is layered beneath the photo.
Peeking out from the floral clusters you can see holly from the Holly Sprigs set.
And lastly, the dangling snowflake is from the 3-piece set of Winter Page Dangles.

This close-up shows just what I'm talking about when I say her layout is eclectic.  Here is a gorgeous vintage photo, and the paper certainly has a vintage feel.  But she has used a frame that would be considered modern, and stenciled numbers on the background.  And there is nothing vintage about the color combination, but it all combines for a cohesive look.

In the corner, Dorota has put together a little vignette by cutting the Santa and his sleigh image from the Holiday Cards paper (Vintage Christmas II) and adding it to the design that is already on the paper.  How cute is that?

Dorota will have one more project for us this month, so be sure to check back.

October inspiration by Pascale B.

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Blue Fern STudios blog with three new projects. For the first one, I worked with the new collection Homespun. I chose a view from the Monastery of Claregalway I've taken during my trip in Ireland.

First I primed the background with clear gesso. Next, I added a design with modeling paste and a stencil.

Then I colored the area with the design with different colors of watercolors.

I primed the Garden Lattice with black gesso before coloring them with waxes.

I primed the Rose leaves with white gesso. Then I colored them with watercolors and sprinkled with the Black Sand and the Taupe embossing powders to add some texture.

I also colored the flowers with a light brown watercolor. I cut a few papers to add under the photo and I glued all the embellishments along with sisal.

To finish the layout I added Silver Sterling and Twig seedlings.

Here is my second October project for Blue Fern Studios. I use the new collection Homespun for this landscape of Connemara.

First I primed the background with clear gesso. Next, I added a design with a stencil and clear crackle paste.

Then I colored the area with the design with watercolors and Mica Powders

I primed the Leafy Twigs with white gesso. Then I covered them with watercolors and added some Taupe embossing powder.

I covered the Crossing the Lines chipboard with white crackle paste.

I cut a few papers from the Wanderlust collection to add under the photo and I glued all the embellishments.

To finish the layout, I added some seedlings and glitter.

Here is my last October inspiration for Blue Fern Studios. This time I used the Vintage Christmas collection with a photo of the Xmas decoration from the castle of Chenonceau.

I primed the background with clear gesso. I cut a few pieces of papers in different sheets of the Vintage Christmas 1 collection. I glued them and added a thin layer of gesso.

Next, I used the Jingle Bells and the Christmas Collage stamps to add two different designs with the Taupe and the Goldilocks embossing powders. Next, I added some colors with different watercolor.

While the background was drying, I altered the frame with the Rust Effect paste. I primed the Holly Sprigs with clear gesso, then I colored them with watercolor. While the watercolor was still wet I sprinkled some embossing powders and heated set them.

I glued all the embellishments with a 3D gel along with mosses.

To finish the layout, I added some seedlings as well as glitter.
